Travel

INSPIRED BY ART AND CONSERVATION.

For us, travel is a work of art. You start with a blank canvas, design a composition, then fill in all the intricacies, adding layers and washes and details until finally you step back and it’s a whole picture – one our clients will hang in a special place in their hearts, forever. We treat the planning process with John’s characteristic attention to each exquisite detail, believing that the end result should build up to a crescendo, and finish nothing short of a masterpiece.

It goes without saying that John has been back to traveling this year, heeding Africa’s call, he sought out soul-expanding experiences to share, both on canvas and in life. Travel has changed, but we’re here to show you it’s far from impossible. In fact, there’s better reason than ever to get out and explore.

For John Banovich, art and travel are two passions inextricably intertwined.  His lust for natural beauty has lured him across the globe for the last three decades, and to his mind, the quest is inseparable from the art; it’s a quintessential part of the process.

To convey the vividness, you must first experience it with all your senses, to embody it, and then pour it forth onto the canvas. You are a channel for the planet’s breath-taking beauty; it comes through you. And this intimate process of being exquisitely present and letting it permeate your being, is to let your soul be washed with the world’s magnificence.

As John shares the beauty of his experiences in art, so it came naturally to want to share them through travel, both as a consumer of luxury travel and as an artist. To take people to the source – to these places that inspire his work – is to share what moves him to pay homage in paint. This desire to take his artistic immersion, and apply it to travel, is how Wildscapes Travel came to be.

Meet the Executive Team

We are a boutique safari specialist, and our passion is to enable our clients to experience the extraordinary wildness and beauty of Africa, while conserving it’s precious wildlife and habitats for our future generations.

  • As CEO and founder of Wildscapes Travel, John Banovich is a world renowned artist and avid traveler continually exploring the world for a global perspective to craft unique and timeless experiences to enhance the Safari experience in Africa. Under this international expertise and love for detail, Wildscapes Travel designers have trained and journeyed extensively within the field to help convey these experiences into a bespoke service tailored completely to guest preference.

  • Since embarking on a career as a field guide in South Africa in 1995, Stu has been incredibly privileged to have worked at several of Africa’s leading safari lodges. Over the past 25+ years, he has witnessed the changing and evolving face of conservation in both southern and East Africa, most especially during his time at Singita Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania, arguably one of Africa’s most successful conservation stories.

Stu’s extensive travel and guiding experience in Africa, together with this deep commitment to conservation and the challenges facing Africa’s protected areas, gives him key insights and allows him to tailor safari itineraries to the requirements of our Wildscapes guests.

Connection and attention to detail form the basis for the design of every Wildscapes itinerary. Stu builds itineraries that suit each individual guest, incorporating lodges, conservancy areas and experiences that deliver a truly complete and extraordinary safari experience, one that embraces nature and focuses on the preservation of land and the wildlife and communities that call these wild places home.

  • I have been blessed in life to work at what I love. My career in the art world allowed to me to merge my degree and love of business, finance and art and I have enjoyed an educative journey and career in the luxury art industry, implementing new strategies, technology and marketing domestically and internationally. Upon a first visit to the continent of Africa one is never the same and I was never the same. A part of Africa never leaves you and I departed with the wish to be a part of something larger, a part of conserving Africa’s wildlife and wild lands. Adding Wildscapes Travel to the Banovich Brand organization incorporates my love of travel and interest in all cultures to an already enriched life and career. I consider it an honor to share and facilitate that love of Africa and know that everyone that travels there will make a profound difference for the people and animals that call Africa home.

  • I am passionate and dedicated to my career in the travel industry, particularly in the context of African safaris. My 3 decades of experience and love for curating holidays shine through my work.

Working in an industry allows me to create experiences that can change people's lives, and is my ultimate reward. I have a deep connection to my work and a commitment to delivering high-quality experiences for our clients.

A keen eye for details and the administrative aspect of crafting itineraries is a valuable skill which greatly enhances the quality of the safaris we meticulously plan. And being based in Johannesburg puts me in a prime location to be at the heart of the African travel industry, allowing me to stay closely connected to our clients and the destinations they are exploring.

Being part of the Wildscapes team means that my skills and passion are celebrated, and I feel an alignment between my career and the company deeply!

I look forward to creating unforgettable adventures for our clients and contributing to the vibrant world of African travel!

“There is simplicity to nature, an honest truth. Its residents complete, moving in a harmony and balance we will never understand.”
